Pests: Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are one of the most hated pests in Florida. They are hard to fight and persistent little devils. Known for sucking blood with annoying bites that will leave you itching and bothered.
Mosquitoes in Florida often carry a few diseases which affect humans:
- Zika
- Dengue
- West Nile Virus
- Malaria

Asian Tiger Mosquitos
Asian tiger mosquitoes are recognized by their stripe like a tiger. They have one long white stripe down the center of their head and back. They will also have other white or silver marks on them. Asian Tiger mosquitoes are known to carry Dengue, Zika, and West Nile Virus.
Southern House Mosquito
Southern House mosquitoes are mostly brown and have a banded lower abdomen. These guys are very active at night and love to reproduce in stagnant waters. Southern House mosquitoes are known to carry encephalitis and West Nile Virus.
Treehole Mosquito
The Treehole mosquito is known to lay their eggs in pools of water in tree holes. They have a banded body section with silver or white on the side and black or dark body and legs. They prefer rodents but will also feed on humans. They stay closer to woods and forests in suburban areas and are infrequent in open spaces.
Treehole mosquitoes are known to carry encephalitis.
